Hello everyone!

Today I just want to give a very frank review as a customer whom stepped into the beauty salon in Clementi, named as Our Solution for the first time. I want to write this post as a reminder for myself and an alert for others who are thinking of buying their deal. I first saw it on StreetDeal and the deal goes like this:

"CLEMENTI: $68 for 12 Sessions Permanent Hair Removal of either Underarms/Upper Lip/Lower Lip with Award Winning Spa (Worth $1176) by Our Solution!"

I did some research but there are not much reviews on it. Tempted by its low price, I decided to go for it. I called for appointment about 3 days before the day of appointment. The call was picked up rather quickly and quite efficiently, which was quite good.

I scheduled it on a Friday near evening. It took me some time to find it because it was hidden somewhere on the second floor in a HDB.  If it was not for a small sign hanging on the wall saying that the shop is up the stairs, I would have missed it. However, the thing that surprises me was that the shop was actually quite beautiful and homely.

After I went into the shop, I was given a cup of tea and a form to fill up. I was served quite promptly, I must say.

All is good until I lie down on their bed and the lady start selling products! I just wanted Upper Lip Hair Removal in the first place. First of all, she say my face is so jialat and recommend their facial at $80 for the first time (half price because I'm a new customer). Secondly, she say that the PLT technology, which is used to injure and destroy unwanted hair, may cause skin to dry and flake off too. So she recommend me to buy a treatment (peel scrub + mask) before and after the PLT at $280 for 12 sessions. The part that makes me felt cheated was that after recommending the treatment, she just ask "Ok hor?" and before even I can say anything, she wipe the peel scrub on my upper lip already. You can say I'm timid because I did not argue but just agree to it. ALERT: Don't let the staff decide for you! Speak up! I'm not sure if that can be considered "hidden cost" because why would they let people just buy the PTL without the mask at the end. And if the PLT will cause skin to flake off, why would they even call it "award winning spa"?
But I agree to it partly because I'm scared about my skin flaking off too.

The upper lip hair removal process started off by using a razor to trim off the hair. (It was quite painful, I don't know why.)Then she apply the peel scrub and did some messaging on my upper lip. It was left on for a few minutes and then she came back to remove it and start the PLT. She covered my eyes with a blanket and used something with a plate that gives out huge bright light and heat at every pulse. It was done on on three areas - right, left and above the lips. Each area two times. The heat was not really hot and painful but I jumped at every pulse of light as the light was too bright. However, I must say the attention from the staff is quite good. She count to three at every pulse and ask me if she can increase the strength before increasing it. At the end she put a mask on my upper lip and left it on for a few minutes. I felt a burning sensation on my upper lip right after the mask was applied but it did cool down after a few minutes.

There is no reddness on my upper lip right up till now (8 hours). Very clean (without hair) and look and feel normal. Effective.

When I thought that I can finally leave in peace, nightmares come again. They gave me a cup of tea after the treatment.( I think I have a phobia of beauty salons giving your tea after treatment, they always mean something else! ) When the lady staff was writing a receipt for me, another guy staff started recommending me the facial treatments. It was really tempting because they say if I sign up now, I will have GSS discount (which is ending soon) and student discount. So 12 sessions of facial treatments will cost me $980 instead of the usual $1200++, plus they will give me 5 free small bottles of some facial thing. They show me pictures of their successful cases of acne treatments and a watsapp chat with his customer whom she said her pimples are all gone!

Call me stupid.

At the end I really did buy it. The lady write out a receipt. It was then that I realised she added the $80 facial (they called it a trial 0.5 Acne Facial ) to my bill. I thought about if I should cancel it but seeing that $80 facial is actually cheaper than 10 facials for $980, I decided to just take it. It was also partly due to the stress from them as they are staring at me to take out my card.
ALERT: Don't be stress by them. Just stand up and leave.( Or don't even drink their tea! They might have put some hypnotizing thing inside to make me confused. Haha kidding~)
Somehow I noticed that when I took out my debit card, my card became a magnet to their eyes and hands. The lady took my card so swiftly, I can feel a sense of happiness from her.

If you are an idiot like me, you end up with a bill of the following items:

1. Peel Scrub + mask        x 12          $280
2. Trial 0.5 Acne Facial     x1             $80
3. 0.5 Acne Facial (GSS)  x10          $980

Total together with my Streetdeal voucher = $1408

Argggg... I walk out feeling sad and stupid.

Of course, I'm not saying that their treatments are not effective. Their treatments maybe EFFECTIVE. My upper lip skin feels very normal after the session and there are no reddness. The staffs there are actually quite passionate to their work and they do pay attention to their customers. But do take extra caution not to be easily swayed by them. (Like me!)

Maybe $1408 is not really of much difference for working adults. You can go try it in that case. But for poor students like me, I regret spending so much. Lectured by my parents, sisters and boyfriend.:(

Now I just hope that the treatments are worthwhile for my money....
